Microsoft Safety Scanner is a scan tool designed to find and remove malware from Windows computers. Simply download it and run a scan to find malware and try to reverse changes made by identified threats.

Microsoft Safety Scanner only scans when manually triggered. Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run Safety Scanner again. We recommend that you always download the latest version of this tool before each scan.


Safety Scanner helps remove malicious software from computers running Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 10 Tech Preview, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server Tech Preview, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2008 R2. Generally, a download manager enables downloading of large files or multiples files in one session. Many web browsers, such as Internet Explorer 9, include a download manager. Stand-alone download managers also are available, including the Microsoft Download Manager.


The Microsoft Download Manager solves these potential problems. It gives you the ability to download multiple files at one time and download large files quickly and reliably. It also allows you to suspend active downloads and resume downloads that have failed.


If you have automatic updating turned on, the latest version of the Windows Update Agent is downloaded and installed automatically on your computer. Or, you can manually download and install the Windows Update Agent.


Windows Update helps keep your computer up-to-date and secure by downloading and installing the latest security and other updates from Microsoft. Windows Update determines which updates apply to your computer.


After you turn on Windows Update, the required updates to components of Windows Update will be downloaded and installed automatically without notifying you. This behavior occurs regardless of which setting you use to turn on Windows Update. If you do not want to receive required updates, you can disable automatic updates in Control Panel.


Microsoft releases the MSRT on a monthly cadence as part of Windows Update or as a standalone tool. Use this tool to find and remove specific prevalent threats and reverse the changes they have made (see covered malware families). The file name of the tool when it is downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center will change with each release to reflect the month and the year when that version of the tool was released.


A12: When you are first offered the Malicious Software Removal Tool from Microsoft Update, Windows Update, or Automatic Updates, you can decline downloading and running the tool by declining the license terms. This action can apply to only the current version of the tool or to both the current version of the tool and any future versions, depending on the options that you choose. If you have already accepted the license terms and prefer not to install the tool through Windows Update, clear the checkbox that corresponds to the tool in the Windows Update UI.

RemoteFX USB Redirection for non-RemoteFX vGPU virtual desktopsThis feature lets users use USB devices with RemoteApp applications and remote desktops, even if the remote desktop computer does not have RemoteFX vGPU installed. Improved single sign-in experience for Remote Desktop Web AccessThis feature simplifies and improves the user experience. It lets users provide their user names and passwords only one time when they connect to IT published apps and desktops. Reconnect for RemoteApp and Desktop ConnectionsThis feature lets users easily disconnect and reconnect to IT published apps and desktops. It is available to users when they use the RemoteApp and Desktop Connections feature to connect to Windows Server 2012 virtual machine-based desktop deployments and session-based desktop deployments.


You cannot use the multi-touch and gestures functionalities when you connect to a computer remotely.IssueThis issue occurs when you use Remote Desktop Connection Client 8.0 on a computer that is running Windows 7 SP1.ResolutionThe RemoteFX multi-touch feature is supported only when both the client and server computers are running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.


You are repeatedly prompted for authentication when you connect to computers by using Remote Web Access in Small Business Server 2011 and Windows Server 2012 Essentials domains.IssueWhen you try to connect to a computer in a Windows Server 2012 Essentials, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard, or Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials domain by using Remote Web Access or Remote Desktop Gateway, you are repeatedly prompted for authentication.ResolutionTo work around this issue, see Information about how to work around multiple authentication prompts after you apply updates 2574819 and 2592687.


Action required to continue auto-updates on Receiver.A new security certificate was recently released to further enhance the security of Citrix Receiver. However, this certificate disables Receiver Auto-Update functionality. It is important that you download and install the recently released Receiver Auto Update Tool to restore Receiver Update functionality.


This ZIP file contains sample scripts to deploy and configure Citrix Receiver. It is an optional download, provided on an as-is basis by Citrix to serve as an example. Before use, IT administrators must customize the scripts to suit their environment.
